After a few months of mourning the loss of their previous pup, Michelle and her husband Alex were ready to consider bringing a new furry family member into their home. “We knew we wanted a pup that was around 30-40 pounds, good with other dogs, and housetrained.” Michelle explained.

They started looking online at various local animal shelters, narrowing it down to a few to meet in person, but none were strong contenders. A couple of weeks after their first visit, a dog named Rudolf popped up. His description sounded perfect! They went to meet him, and upon arriving, he glanced over, made eye contact, and ran to Michelle and Alex. He jumped up, and as soon as Michelle sat down, he snuggled up, giving her tons of kisses. He also fetched a few balls for Alex. This felt like the one!

After they completed the paperwork, they took him home, renamed him Barley, and introduced him to their other dog Lily. They were instant pals, playing in the yard from day one! They still love to play as much as that first day and now also love to snuggle and cozy up (typically squeezing into the same little bed even if there’s another one right next to it!).

“We did not plan to adopt a puppy, but it ended up being the best decision. Barley has brought so much new energy and love into our home. He makes us smile and laugh every single day with his silly actions and his complete and total adoration of his balls. He also wrestles with his older sister until she insists on a break. We are forever grateful for the warmth and love Barley added to our lives.” Michelle wrote.

With the new pair of best friends being so cute together, Michelle and Alex ordered a custom throw pillow from Petsies featuring a photo of the two adorable dogs. They also added a cute little saying about the unconditional love they bring into their lives. The pillow arrived quickly and is even cuter than imagined! “It makes a wonderful addition to my office, where I can always see their cute little faces, even when they are not physically there.  Our two pups make us so happy, and our family is more complete because of them.” – Michelle Schenker

The Petsies team couldn’t be happier for the Schenker family and Barley and his sister Lily. We’re extremely thankful for people like Michelle and her husband and for sharing this sweet story. Cheers to more happy endings like this one!
